Adrian Recordings to release next The Bear Quartet album.

2009-03-30 We can confirm rumors that has been heard through the grapevine last month. Adrian Recordings will release the legendars The Bear Quartets next and 15th album (counting the compilation). All other albums has been released on the A West Side Fabrication-label, but now they are passing the torch on to us. It must be clear though that Bear Quartet is not leaving West Side because they don’t get along. BQ and West Side are best friends and singer Matti Alkberg will soon release his new solo album (called “Nerverna”) there and we all think that West Side’s importance for Swedish music history can’t be overestimated.

So? Has The Bear Quartet any relevance 2009? It is just a silly question. Anyone that has been following their work through the years knows that they never rest and never release anything that isn’t out of highest value. We can assure you that the next album will not be an exception. Another thing that made us decide that we want do this is the fact that if you take everything that Adrian Recordings has released since 1999 and put it in a blender, there might just be The Bear Quartet that would come out of it. We have the indie guitars, the experimental side, the indisputable lyric geniuses and the electronic adventures, all with quality in mind. This sounds like Adrian Recordings and The Bear Quartet.

The Bear Quartet’s status as icons in Sweden is both true and sad. It is true that they never compromise with their visions but if that would have to mean that you just end up being a band praised by media and hard core fans, this world is a sad place. Following the path that Adrian Recordings stated long time ago. We will give their music to the masses, proud and without compromising.

We have no idea though what to expect of the new album. All we know is that we have booked Studio Gröndahl in May. Matti calls the new stuff post-future, but adds that he has no idea what it will sounds like. All members has been writing songs, ballads, guitar orgies and more. Jari says it is something like a mix of The Stooges and The Go Betweens but at the same time he knows that when they come to the studio in May, maybe they all just wanna stand and kraut away and then it will just be an instrumental album. In other words; This is just how we want them. Expect clarifications this fall when the album is released.
